Godless - Preliminary Review of Dan Barker's Book

Godless by Dan Barker

Wow! This was a wonderful revelation from a most unexpected source! (Link to see book on Amazon top right.) As a former Baha'i I used to go cold with Christian Fundamentalism and fanaticism, so I really didn't expect to find, let alone buy a book like this in the first place. Very glad I did though.

First off, having made my decision that there is no g(G)od, I was tempted by the subtitle that an evangelical preacher had also moved on and rejected what to him had been a devout and fundamentalist style of Christianity. I thought this would make a very interesting read - and I was right.

OK, so my own decision was unassailable, but I wanted to get another viewpoint and see if it matched mine anywhere. Well, it does. What it does is re-affirm much of my own thinking far more eloquently and with far deeper 'technical' insight than I could.

I'm just about halfway through now, and I must admit that Dan's reflections on the immorality of God and the bible are quite harrowing (and very eye-opening).

I'll leave it there for now and come back with further insights when I've finished. But I do urge you not to wait for me. Pop over to Amazon right now and read the blurb in there - and then get your own copy.

Until next time.
